Zone - Identity
Zone is band from the region of Utrecht, and is known in their parts. They've played at some local clubs and their addictive mix of Metalcore and Nu-Metal has been played zillion times before, although it is quite nice to listen to. Now they have a demo cd out called Identity, which we received to review. I'll start right out. Hitting People is distinguished by the heavy sound of the bass and the drums, but the sound is so slugglish and underproduced that it's shit to listen to. The guitars are somewhat overwhelmed by the undertones. Next song is Identity, which starts out with some very heavy double bass sound and a brutal vocalist screaming his lungs out but not quite reaching what he wants to achieve. Again the guitars are a bit on the background, however it sounds better than Hitting People. The length of the songs is good because the fast songs shouldn't take too long. Next song sounds a little bit like dreadlock pussy, the guitars anyway. Cutting of my roots is the title of the song. When hearing the guitars and vocal expression the names Dreadlock Pussy and KoRn are imminent. Even the vocals sound a bit like Jonathan. Not a bad song, but not one of my favourites. Face Down is a more moshing song for a great moshpit. With neat basswork, which now sounds great with the guitars (better mixing I guess), this is a very qualitative song. Prison is a very aggressive ending song with rolling double bass work and brutal guitar riffs.
