At first sight Totalt Jävla Mörker seems like a typical hardcore band like we’re familiar with nowadays. The music is played pretty damn fast, sometimes really pretty damn fast, the songs do not last longer than three minutes (without any exception) and the screaming vocals are all over the place. All this is presented within a good line-up so the music seems to come straight out of the hearts of the members and the listener really must feel some kind of anger or an increasing energy-level.

 

But when listening some more to the entire album, I do not sense too many interesting things. The vocals are extremely monotone, as well as most of the songs. The only ‘different’ things on the album, besides half-tempo riffs, are some bass solo’s but they normally don’t last longer than five seconds. It all results in an album that I want to turn off after six songs and that’s a shame, especially when the sound gets you up from your chair, making you feel like destroying something.

 

For diehard hardcode fans, I would recommend Totalt Jävla Mörker because of their pure form of music. It may be interesting to listen to a band singing in Swedish, it makes you focus on the music even more. But for fans of heavy music who want some variation in their life every now and then, I’d say that there are some major hardcore bands you should listen to instead.
