Necrophobic - Hrimthursum
I got to know this band several years ago by means of their album Dark Side, I liked the extreme black metal combined with sturdy death metal. Their last album came somewhere in 2002, so it has been 4 years for the fans to wait for this one. Necrophobic from Sweden have started somewhere in the early nineties and brought out their first full-length in 1993. Now, 2006, the new album called Hrimthursum is out.

The record starts with an intro, which I would skip immediately. The second track is where the music begins and the first thing that comes in mind is the awesome production. The music resembles a lot with Dissection in the days of Storm Of The Light’s Bane and I’m already a fan! Nice eerie solo’s, melodical grooves and some very decent raw black metal. The very interesting track 'Bloodshed Eyes'  has a very catchy death metal refrain and is one of my favourites of this album. 'The Crossing' is a track that will appeal to most black metal fans I suppose, because of the extreme blasting drums with shrieking guitar riffs that will give you seriously stomach illness. Hellaluja, this album continues to get better and better after a few spins! Alright, another track for the death metal fans is 'Death Immaculate', which sounds like  the ordinary blasting double bass drumming with headbanging riffs, although with a very own touch.

I hope I have given you a little example of how this band sounds. The real fans probably know this already, but if you’re curious and into decent black metal like Dissection, don’t hesistate to buy this. It will not be disappointing! I’m not the biggest black metal fan in the world, but even I liked it very much. Thumbs up!
