Angel City Outcasts - Deadrose Junction
The story of Angle City Outcasts has been a classic so far. Being friends for years with each of them playing an instrument, they decided to do a few rehearsals in 2002 and play together. This seemed to work out pretty well resulting in two releases so far. Of course, the spirit of the youngsters is full of energy, putting their second full-length album into the world of rock & roll.
And rock & roll it is, absolutely. The energy and enthusiasm of the band is so very present that you almost have to wish you were at a live gig of the band instead of listening to the record. The music can be described as a mixture of the fast rock & roll by Nasvhille Pussy combined with the punk attitude from Anti-Flag but with raw vocals.
After the first six fast songs which are all truly dedicated to the massiveness this kind of music is known for (lots of fast guitar solo’s, some hey hey heeeeyyy!!’s, ‘I’ve got one thing to say to you!’ and the inevitable dedication to rock & roll) things get a little relaxed at the Bleeding Heart Saloon with a Spanish guitar solo. The relaxation sometimes has to be present in order to have the desired impact of the massive rock songs. It describes all the band is standing for, because it is followed very smoothly into the absolute killer song of the album Horns N Halos; a true motorcycle bike song which makes you long for girls wearing short skirts, providing you perfectly cold pints.
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to an album which is as full of enthusiasm as this Deadrose Junction. The album contains 14 songs with a 56 minute playtime, a lot more than the average album in this genre. It may not be something you haven’t heard before but I’m sure that a lot of rock fans would be happy to notice that true dedication towards the soul of the guitar is still alive and kicking asses.
By the way, look at the website, it seems like the guys love to be on tour and I’m sure visiting a show will be a night with great entertainment.
