Day 3 – Friday August 12th
As said before day three was going to be a long one. Today we had a Budapest Rock’n’Roll Marathon on our schedule. Hungarian metallers Subscribe were playing at 2.30 in the night so we had to stay up late and after our positive review we wanted to see these guys live on stage. But before Subscribe we also had to watch the bands Superbutt and Blind Myself. The other two we have seen before but we just love these guys and they know how to pump up the audience!

The day started with good weather, even though the forecasts weren’t that good we had great weather so far. We had a appointment with Superbutt front man Andras Voros for an interview but when we arrived there we heard there was an open discussion with him concerning the relations between East and West Europe. We quickly grabbed a bite and watched some stores before we entered the place to participate in the discussion. Although we could not say anything it was a learning experience. There were people involved from all over the world and this was one of the best ideas we have ever seen on a festival.

The main idea behind these activities is the brand new music export bureau which is started by the Hungarian music industry and government. We also had a conversation with Andras and Greg (Blind Myself) concerning these new activities in Hungary.

The first thing we actually saw this day were a few songs of The 69 Eyes. A solid rock formation with an attractive show; the drummer was showing of with strange moves. After drinking some beers outside we walked into the tent to meet Andras who took us side stage for their show.

Superbutt are the starters of Budapest Rock’n’Roll and it is just impossible to explainf the style to the public. It is something you need to see, hear, feel and experience. The type of metal they play is danceable for us western people and this is very pleasurable. The talented musicians they have got just give what you need and the Hungarian people know what to do with this energy. The crowd went completely bezerk like the year before; it was one big huge gigantic party and we were lucky to be here. Songs that were played were Pioneer, Eat My Brain, Fisherman and Jack Is A Dull Boy; The lyrics are as strange as the titles but this just makes the music more interesting. The sounds wasn’t that good this night so if you know the music you most likely enjoyed the show, if you don’t knew the band I think you just don’t know what is happening.

After Superbutt it was time for Blind Myself to enter the stage. The band is influenced by Canderia and The Dillinger Escape Plan; the show they give is full of energy and power. The show was amazing and guitarist Tibor shows us a good impression of Ben (Guitarist of DEP) and lead singer Greg (obvious) does his thing the way he should. Once again this band consists out of great musicians and it is strange no label shows interest in a band like Blind Myself. The band is going to tour Europe in September together with The Idoru and Metalrage will be there.

As said before the last band of the night was Subscribe. After a very positive review on Metalrage we just had to see this show and it was everything we expected. These, once again, talented musicians gave a new refreshing and explosive show. Most songs that were played can be found on their album Sanity has left the Building. This show was one of the best we have seen on this festival, the band was jumping around so much the cords became one big knot. One of the lead singers even lost his shoe during the set and started throwing it against fellow band mates. If there is one band who can make it international to the hit charts it will be this band. They are enjoying their show, are willing to talk with their fans and most important; they have got potential!

After a long evening with Hungarian metal it was time to drink some beers with the bands and after that we went to bed. The day after we had once again an appointment for an interview.
