Otto Von Schirach, Donna Summer, DuranDuranDuran - Monsters Of Cock Rock
Easter Sunday in Holland means one more day to go out and party - for all the non-Christians that is. We from Metalrage decided to visit our common metal venue 013 in Tilburg for some fucked up beats at the Cock Rock Disco label night, presenting us Nero's Day At Disneyland, DuranDuranDuran, Donna Summer and Otto Von Schirach.

At 10 P.M. the party kicked off with resident DJ Rioteer. He had one and a half hour to warm up the crowd that was slowly entering the venue, but it unfortunately remained quite empty on the dance floor. His set contained a lot of freaky chiptune, music made with gameboys and consoles like that. Like Mario and Luigi on speed with a whole lot of other noise. Once I found it fun getting to know this genre, but tonight I thought it was a bit too much and so we decided to drink our first beers at the café. (Mindsaver)

Because the music from the stage was monitored in the café as well, we immediately noticed the DJ changeover. Next up was Nero’s Day At Disneyland, who did a live act with next to a laptop also a keyboard, connected to other equipment so he couldn’t only play notes, but complete loops with just pushing one key. Result? Again some great chaos with loads of happy 8-bit music combined with breakcore. Weak as we were, we again decided to drink some pints in the back ‘cause this shit was just too freaky for this early moment of the night. (Mindsaver)

Shortly before DuranDuranDuran started his set, I was told that he recently played a lot more digital hardcore. That already sounded as music in my ears, but what we shortly after got to hear from the mister himself was absolutely great. Pounding hardcore in various forms (industrial, UK-style and a bit of frenchcore) were served and I seriously believed that I never heard a better set. If I wasn’t so brackish of the night before and the attendance wasn’t so low it might have been one of the best ever. Contributing was the intense lightshow, but most of all the massive sound. It was worthy to keep my earplugs unused. Hopefully he’ll be booked on more hardcore parties in the near future! (Mindsaver)

After Duran3x we got to see another act that stole his name from an artist that we know from the past: Donna Summer. This alias from Cock Rock Disco label manager Jason Forrest once attracted a bunch of fans of the real Donna to a party they weren’t really prepared for. At least that’s the story that’s been going around. Tonight, Jason managed to, just like a couple weeks earlier, blow up a couple of speakers. Props for that! Furthermore we once again had a lot of fun during a performance full of music, I at least didn’t know him from in the beginning. His breakcore was limited to a minimum, doing a lot of dance and gabber mixes with harsh beats instead. Fun stuff for sure. (Mindsaver)

Otto von Schirach
, headliner of the evening, started his set with a really cool breakcore/electro track. After this one it became clear that he wasn’t really feeling like playing music for the thirty remaining people in the audience, so he went totally berserk with insane beats, noises and plain chaos. A couple of other tracks passed by, like “Fried Eggs In My Ear“, “Subatomic Disco Divas“, “Alligator Waltz“ and the magnificent encore, which I think he rather didn’t perform but which was announced as his Slayer tribute; “Magnetic Rave Headache“. Other than that he cursed at a member of the audience for wanting to dance, which was kind of funny. Again a bizarre performance by this crazy Miami gorebeatpimp, which left the audience pretty much flabbergasted. Until next time my friend! (DemonDust)
