Your Demise - Ignorance Never Dies
Your Demise from St Alban, Great Britain have had all the problems you can imagine in their six years of existence. Equipment theft, line up changes (twelve in total), motorway breakdowns and even serving some time in the Belgian prison. So you can say these guys are pretty determined in what they’re doing and I like that. I like an attitude of "you can’t beat me down", especially since it reflects in the music most of the time. Well let’s see if it’s the same for their Visible Noise Records’ debut album called Ignorance Never Dies.

The title track, which is also the first song, slowly builds up like it’s a bit of an intro. During the song a grin shows upon my face since it reminds me of the mighty Biohazard with their strong riffs that slowly carry on. After this the shit hits the fan with ‘Burnt Tongues’, ‘Nothing Left But Regret’ and ‘Antipode’. Oh boy this is just the way I like to hear it. Hardcore in the vein of Comeback Kid, Sick Of It All and a little bit of Hatebreed.

The intermezzo ‘Hypochondriac’ warns us for the violence that’s to come later because with ‘Unknown Dub’ there’s a real dubstep track on this hardcore album. Not my idea of creating a bit of diversity on the album. Especially since the song lasts for 5 minutes and has no sort of link with their own sound. On the other hand I do give Your Demise the credits of showing the balls to do this. Sadly enough Your Demise is bullying me again with the drum and bass track ‘Great Shape´. I like the idea of mixing some musical styles but try to do this within one song, please. I mean, when you expect a certain musical style it’s very strange to hear something different. Try to visualise Beethoven playing metal during one of his symphonies and you’ll know what I mean (although that would be pretty cool).

But between those two tracks lesser tracks there are still some great brutal hardcore tracks that have a great vibe. Especially ‘The Clocks Aren’t Ticking Backwards’ and ‘Black Veins’ are some instant mosh hits that are really good to redecorate your house to. Trust me, after that a divorce is ensured. This leaves me a bit in a doubting position. There are some really killer tracks on this album but on the other hand there are also some misplaced tracks on the album. I guess I have to thank god on my bare knees for the skip button and jus try to forget those songs.
