Firebird - Grand Union
After three days of Roadburn, this reviewer's stoner time was over. Sadly, I missed the afterburner where Firebird gave a concert. I'll catch 'em next time. On Grand Union, Firebird mixes a lot of styles together with stoner and blues as the most recognisable ones. Since these are both excellent musicstyles, 1+1=2, right? I can assure you, 1+1=2 in this case!!

Grand Union kicks off with the excellent 'Bleu Flame'. Bill tells us: "If you take the time to listen, you'll find out what you've been missing". Appearantly, we missed a lot! The bluesy riff in this song is one that sticks and the solo in the end is fabulotasticrelaxedcool! And if you listen to the record, it turns out that every song on this disc if very fucking good!! There is not enough time and webspace to tell you all about everything on this record, so just go get it at your local dealer! Ok, one more than; 'Gold Label' has the most relaxing and easy-going vibe I have heard in a very, very long time!

The thing that stands out most is the guitarplaying on this record. Laid back, easy going riffs, topped off with solos from hell itself! Picture Angus Young stoned out of his mind and you'll get the picture! The bassplaying is magnificent as well! The bass purrs like a tiger cub that gets rubbed on the belly! The only reason this record didn't end up in the 90+ category is the vocals that lack the power of the rest of the band. So if you like blues and stoner, you're a dumbass if you don't own this record!
