The Idoru - Brand New Way, Brand New Situation
So what is the story with The Idoru and what is Metalrage doing with this CD. Well, the story goes back to Hungary once again. Back there I met the guys from Blind Myself and my name companion Tibor who is the guitarist in this band. When I was back in the Netherlands he contacted me to do some promotion for his other project The Idoru. Off course we wanted to help him and he send me some albums. After a busy period I finally have found a gap to start this process in the Netherlands. In the meantime I have listened to this album many times and you will find my opinion below.
The story behind The Idoru can be found in their stylish biography. What does this biography tell us. Hmm, not much actually. The band started in 2002 with ex members of various bands. At the end of 2003 they released their first EP After the Storm. And now there is a full length available called Brand New Way, Brand New Situation.
The first time I listened to the album I was surprised, the second time I was amazed and right now I love this album. To be honest I try to let as many of my friends listen to this album. Asking for their opinion and most of them ask me for a copy. The album starts with the track Dreaming About Two Lives. The style sounds a bit like Ignite. But in a way this is a completely different band. I already knew Tibor was a great guitar player but his skills are more present on this album. The vocals are well produced and the songs are wonderful. From faster songs like Over The Vortex to slower songs like Irony of Fate they are sure showing their capabilities. If this band gets the opportunity they deserve they are going to be a great band.
The artwork of the booklet and inlay are magnificent, original and attractive. If there is one minor about starting bands it is the simple and strange booklets. This band has taken their time and put a lot of afford in their first full length.
With 12 tracks The Idoru shows what they are all about. If it was up to me you will see a lot more of this band in the future. A great album for punkrock and hardcore fans. This album is of great quality! And if you got the time, check their website at www.theidoru.com!
