As I said in the other Mistress review, Earache has re-released their first two full-length albums, both with bonus tracks. Here comes part two, which easily surpasses the first one. The combination of sludgecore, grindcore, hardcore, doom and black metal must appeal one’s ear that is, but if so this is a must-have.

The sound is still as I mentioned very dirty, which suits the style of music perfectly. The vocals have become even more versatile, and can from time to time actually be understood. Too bad they’ve gone that a bit too far with that their actual last release In Disgust We Trust. Here, it’s just a perfect match with the music.

 

Speaking of the music, it has changed a bit. The power thrash metal influences seem to have been pushed back a lot and to have made room for a hint of black metal and hardcore. That fits so much better with their sludgecore, probably the reason why I like this one better than the first one. The structures of the songs stayed pretty much the same, in an unpredictable blur of chaos where some very cool riffs are spewed out from.

 

I’ll leave it at that, ‘cause that homegrown got me worse than I expected. Just fucking listen to this if it even sounds slightly interesting to you. And otherwise, I bet this still gets your parents pretty pissed.
