Nasum - Grinding the Goudvishal
Finally I got the see the one grindcore band that manages to do something in the style of Napalm Death, only better in my perception. Not the usual gore grunts and beatings, but political loaded lyrics in a grindcore jacket added up with some interesting hardcore parts.
The first band to play was Eyepatch, a local metalcore band. Although they had some really cool beatdown riffs, the bigger half of what they played didn’t catch my attention. One in a million, except the vocals were really bad. Could be that they just weren’t loud enough I thought, but then I heard the demo. Review for that one coming soon online here.
Extreem Eczeem only has a funny name. For the rest of it, there’s nothing that can make you happy at all. Unless you have the same taste as Mat-Core. That also sums up what to expect. Braindead stomping death metal. No more, no less. Again, one in a million.
Then the true mayhem started. The minute Nasum kicked in, I was amazed by the brutality of this show. Blasting grinding screaming annihilating noise purged out of the speakers in an attempt to make everybody go home deaf that night. This was the first tour with their new nasty bass player, who had a injury on his foot so he had to sit down every once in a while. He kept spitting on himself and others during the entire performance. Yummy!!!
I don’t know how many songs were played, but I can tell you it were a lot. The grindclassic Inhale/Exhale was certainly not left out, just like my personal favourite Scoop. After the performance I had a major peep in my ear and, I can die a little bit happier again. GRIND!!!
