Wednesday 13 - A night full of Horror Core
One week ago Wednesday 13 once again played in the Netherlands. This solo project by Murderdolls and Frankenstein Drag Queens front man Wednesday 13 was quite popular the last time so they decided to do two more gigs over here. When we arrived at the Melkweg in Amsterdam there was quite a big crowd for the smaller venue inside and after a long wait we entered the loaded venue.

First band of the night was The Other; and I have to say they sure were different. But unfortunately for them there is no single word that is positive about this band. With lyrics like “ ooohooohhh Tarantula Ooohhh oohhh Tarantula” they got me running out of the venue almost immediately and this band should decide to give it up and go home.

And there he was, Wednesday 13 and partner in crime. The band presented us a night full of horror core. With a nicely decorated stage like last time they played their songs in front of one crazy audience. When I looked around me I saw nothing but kids singing along; and I do mean kids. With an average age of 15 I actually felt old. But to the point, Wednesday 13 is not my kind of music, it is way too simple and unoriginal; but the way the band present their show is amazing to witness.

With non stop freaky moves and overrated solos; throwing guitar picks in the air and spitting around the band sure knows how to entertain the crowd. Too bad the parents in the back probably didn’t like what they saw. One funny fact is when I asked a roadie after the show how many picks were used during a concert he answered the bass player uses 90 guitar picks a night. That makes it really special when you got one right!

Overall a funny night and a lovely chit chat with some old friends and new people. After the show I hung around for quite some time but I decided to leave the playground.
