The first time I encountered Heaven Shall Burn was when they were supporting Hatebreed in the Melkweg. Before that day I had only heard a couple of songs and thought it was quite ok. But the moment these guys started playing they blew me away. With fast songs and brutal vocals this band made a great impression on me (of course Hatebreed blew them away that night with a very long show..). The band released their previous effort in 2004 but in 2006 it is time for their new record called ‘Deaf To Our Prayers’.

Heaven Shall Burn hasn’t changed their sound that much on Deaf To Our Prayers. The band has gone a little bit faster and has become more brutal. This might be caused by the new guitarist Alexander Dietz who entered the band on the last tour before Deaf To Our Prayers got recorded.

Immediately after the first time you listen to this record you will conclude this album is crushing. The brutality jumps of the record and finally a German ‘metalcore’ band created something extremely loud without clean vocals; without slow parts. Heaven Shall Burn managed to create a disc with non stop power. It all starts with the opening track Counterweight where the path of destruction begins and it ends with The Greatest Gift Of God.

Some of my favorite tracks include Mybestfriends.com, Trespassing The Shores Of Your World and Biogenesis. These tracks are so goddamn fast and extreme. This is what metalcore or thrashmetal or hardcore or a mix of everything should sound like.

Heaven Shall Burn is one of those bands who manage to create a quality mix of metal and hardcore. If you are into faster metalcore and you cannot stand those clean vocals. Check this one, you will definitively love it! It is clear, anger at its best!
