Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
By now every metalhead must have noticed the leaders of the French metal scene and have recognised their innovative musical talent and technical skills. Gojira conquered the hearts of metalheads all over the world in a rapid pace, and now they come to show us if they can keep up their superb formula with their new album The Way Of All Flesh.
One of the highest anticipated metal albums of this year, The Way Of All Flesh comes to nourish a need that not many bands have created. The unique sound of Gojira which was really determined on the previous record From Mars To Sirius is expanded even further. Also some elements of the first two records pop up in some of the songs. An excellent production makes this album a treat to listen to, while it doesn’t give you the feeling of over-production at all. The vocals offer some weird changes, for many of them are layered with multiple lines which create some crazy effects in this area. The heavy death metal groove parts and mid tempo bash pieces are still around, just like all the weird guitar noises these guys love so much. The Way Of All Flesh definitely doesn’t disappoint the average Gojira fan at all.
I have to say that From Mars To Sirius made a bigger impression on me, and after hearing this new effort numerous times I still have to say the same. It just caught on to me easier than this one, for this one is a bit more complex and also a lot more experimental. I won’t name any favourites on this record, because the record is so diverse I think that every one will pick a different song anyways. One thing is for sure; The Way Of All Flesh is never a dull listen but more another innovative step and creative outlet from France’s best effort in metal; Gojira.
