Since 2003 the city of Utrecht is hosting the dark underground lifestyle festival Summer Darkness. With acts performing throughout the city in the familiar live music venues, but also in a couple of churches and with markets, city tours and LARP exhibitions this is an annually growing festival, comparable to Germany’s Wave-Gotik-Treffen. Although not as huge as WGT this is also one big party for the ones into the goth-, cybergoth-, steampunk and/or rivethead subcultures.
 

Besides buying a passe-partout ticket for the whole weekend the festival has some smaller events which also are part of the festival, but you can buy separate tickets for them. One of these events is the show of the Irish post- / spacerockers of God Is An Astronaut in Tivoli De Helling at the 27^th of July. Especially with supporting bands The Black Heart Rebellion and AmenRa, both really great at the Roadburn festival, we just can’t deny this event. We’ll definitely be there to witness Utrecht’s night becoming 50 shades of grey darker than normally. And of course for the Alternative 80’s afterparty with music of bands like Joy Division, Bauhaus and Killing Joke. See you there!
