Striborg - Nocturnal Emissions - Nyctophobia
Well, I reviewed Striborg’s previous re-release and now another one has reached the Metalrage headquarters. It’s again a combination of an old and a new album (I think) and it’s again filled with the most creepy and vile of true underground black noise metal. Wooptiedoo.

This ain’t exactly party music. More suitable for a funeral I’d say. A funeral in the church of Satan, with the entire crowd jacked up on mescaline and raw ether. That’ll be a sight to see. Set some people on fire and you’ve actually got a party! Since I already explained what Striborg exactly does in the previous review, I will just sum it up here in one sentence. Striborg is a one-man black metal band by Sin Nanna creating music that sounds like a moose with diarrhoea. Very flaming and Satanic diarrhoea I might add.

So again, this music is only suitable for a very select crowd. The music is recorded like shit, sounds like shit, and is produced like shit. Except for the synthesizers, they sound quite nice actually. Considering that the first track ‘Nocturnal Emissions’ lasts over twenty minutes it is obvious that you’re in for one hell of a depressing ride. Creepy atmospheric forest black metal. And in case you’re wondering, the Nyctophobia part of the album is recorded even worse, although I do like the first track ‘Under The Black Rain’, which is mostly comprised of nature sounds. In the song after this one the vocals sound like someone is trying to blow his nose, in a trumpet or something. I guess I just don’t understand.

It’s hard for me to give an honest judgement for this record, but if you dig words like grim, corpse, evil, forest and Satan and you think Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth are commercial, you might hit the spot with this one. Here’s some background music for your Satanic rituals like gutting your neighbours dog and systematically raping sheep. What the hell, burn a church, drink some wine, you might be in the next Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey.
