Suicide Silence - The Cleansing
Occasionally Century Media has a band that I really like, and after the first spin of Suicide Silence’s first full length The Cleansing I found that this is one of those bands. The band has already played and toured with Darkest Hour, Unearth, Despised Icon, Winds Of Plague and Walls Of Jericho, and recently did their first European tour with Behemoth. Quite impressive!

The style that Suicide Silence shamelessly rampages is probably to be named deathcore by most people, their own detailed description states that they incorporate a mix of death and black metal, hardcore, grindcore and doom elements in their music. Deathcore for short, right? The sound of the band is so rude and plump, is just smacks you in the face over and over again. Especially the mega-heavy breakdowns they use cause this feeling, and overall the music reminds me a lot of Skinless. And I love that!

Vocalist Mitch Lucker possesses a mighty low roar that would scare away a grizzly bear, while he also handles an extremely nasty scream thus providing enough variation on this front. This guy really lives up to the high standards the music already sets, making this band a worthy addition to the new wave of death metal bands. PULL THE TRIGGER BITCH!

The only negative thing I can mention is that the songs don’t stick around in my head as much as I’d want them to, perhaps some slightly more catchy tunes might help that. But then again, who gives a shit about catchy tunes when you’re making death metal? Death metal heads who simply looooove groove should definitely check this out. I for one will not make the mistake of missing them again next time they’re over here, which I hope is very soon.
