Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust - Are gonna fuck you up!!
Once again the thrash-reinventing masters of Municipal Waste are destroying Europe, and again they visited the Kleine Zaal of 013, this time completely sold out. Opener of the show was Toxic Holocaust, who recently signed to Relapse Records. Let’s thrash!

Toxic Holocaust opened the show powerfully with their black rock n’ thrash roll metal attack, displaying every cliché in this line of music ever made. Is that a bad thing? Hell fucking no!! If Mötorhead were to be a thrash metal band, they would be named Toxic Holocaust. Every song sounds basically the same, and even the titles are too cliché for words. Think of ‘Metal Attack’, ‘Enemy Of Jesus’ and ‘Nuke The Cross’. Ridiculous, but fucking awesome nonetheless. The band (which is actually a solo project by guitarist/vocalist Joel Grind) revives the old days perfectly. The only bad thing I noticed was the fact that Joel’s weakness lies in the playing of guitar solos. For the rest, a fine opener for the mayhem to come.

And the mayhem came, with full force. As soon as Municipal Waste entered the stage, the entire venue transformed into a deathpit which lasted for the entire show. I can’t name one band that can do that to a Dutch crowd these days; fucking killer dudes! They blasted out hits from all of their releases, but unfortunately left out the mighty ‘Born To Party’, which holds the awesome lyrics of ‘Municipal Waste is gonna fuck you up’ which the crowd was already screaming before they had struck their first note. The non-stop crowdsurfing, a wall of death, countless circle pits and many other forms of friendly violence made me enjoy this show just as much as the last time I saw them, and I’m pretty sure I will attend more of their beer-drenched headbang shows in the future. Anyone into old-school thrash should check this out live at least once, you will fucking love it! BANGOVER!!!
