As some of you might have read in my previous review on Delain, I was quite surprised by their full-length debut. Now that we’re a few months further, this band seems very popular with the bigger crowds as well. Not only have they sold 6,000 copies of Lucidity and will they play at the Fields Of Rock festival, they have also reached the Dutch national radio charts.

 

Of course you won’t get any airplay when you play a song with dark grunts in it and therefore ‘Frozen’ has been a good choice! It’s a very catchy and melodic song that simply must appeal to all gothic fans. So people who are into Within Temptation, Nightwish and such should definitely check out this single to judge whether to buy the complete album or not. Although I think that by now every gothic fan knows everything about Delain already.

 

Next to the song ‘Frozen’ we find ‘Deep Frozen’. As it says in the track listing, it’s the same version as the bonus track for the full-length album of which these songs have been taken. This song differs a bit from the first track and that’s mainly because of the grunts that are performed by Marko Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot). Personally I like this song a bit more but that’s probably exactly the thing that distinguishes me from the radio listening masses.

 

If you were into Delain before you should consider to get this single. And I suggest you to buy the limited edition as that one comes with the video for ‘Frozen’ as well as a free sticker. To those who didn’t know Delain; you might think twice before skipping this band again.
