Beartooth - Disgusting
Beartooth is the brainchild of Caleb Shomo, some of you have probably heard of this guys since he’s the former singer of Attack! Attack!. A band that I only know by name and the bad press they got in the self-pronounced  “serious” metal media. Somehow I never bothered to check out the band, so for me Caleb Shomo is a brand new face!

What he delivers with Beartooth is a mixture of Papa Roach on steroids and hardcore bands in the vein of Comeback Kid, but a tad more melodic sometimes in the Billy Talent territory (see ´Beaten In Lips’). ‘The Lines’ is an excellent opener and it gives the listener a good idea what to expect of the album. Melodic, but with enough aggression to give it a heavier almost metalcore like feel.

Everything is brought with a tremendous amount of energy. The quality of the songs range from really well and excellent (i.e. the melodies and tempo changes in the Papa Roach influenced ‘In Between’) and mediocre (the slightly redundant and too repetitive ‘Body Bag’). Clearly Caleb has some real talent in writing songs, but by putting sometimes too much emphasis on emotions instead of writing memorable riffs or melodies, not every song is up to the standard set by other songs on this album. They just miss something extra and feel rushed.

Disgusting is a very entertaining album to listen to. A no brainer if someone would love to have some really good work out music or have a shit day at work. Not every song is as memorable, but with songs like the aforementioned ‘In Between’ and the Comeback Kid like crasher ‘I have A Problem’, they have some heavy hitters on their debut. This album surely will finds its way to my cd player again after concluding this review. Just one last point of critique is the closer ‘Sick And Disgusting’. It’s overly emotional with a complete breakdown of the singer and it lets itself easily compare to the song Daddy of Korn. Perhaps the emotions are sincere, but it sounds gimmicky and the emotions that he wants to share with the listener doesn’t strike a chord with me at all. After ‘Dead’ the album ends for me.
