Groezrock - NOFX, The Offspring, The Hives, Descendents and many more!

This years 23rd edition of Groezrock festival will, again,  be held in Meerhout, Belgium. A yearly celebration of all that is punk, hardcore, metalcore and most affiliated styles. Spread across four stages, the lineup is pretty impressive, starring NOFX, The Offspring, The Hives and The Casualties, but also Descendents, ALL! And Belgium’s own Funural Dress. Besides the true punk there is also a stage dedicated to metalcore and the like, featuring names such as dutch pride The Charm, The Fury, Apologies, I Have None, Terror (who we saw earlier this year at EMP Persistence Tour) and even The Wonder Years (who did a pretty good job at the Vans Warped Tour).

Besides the two main ones , there are also two smaller, more intimate stages. First there’s the Etnies stage, where stagediving and crowdsurfing is not only allowed but also encouraged. With bands like H2O, La Dispute, Iron Chic, Red City Radio, Judge and  Cro-Mags that shouldn’t be a problem. Besides all the hard and heavy, there’s also room for some folk and ska, with  The Toasters, Larry and his Flask and Bim Skala Bim, playing the smallest Macbeth stage.

Tradition also has it that one day before the festival starts (this year on thursday May first) the Accoustic Punk meeting is held on the camping terrain. All the punks get together for a cozy singalong and drink some brewski’s. This year, Australians The Smiths Street Band and British dudes Ducking Punches will be joining the visitors in this cheery campfire-vibe evening.

All in all it’s gonna be a busy, but joyfull weekend, this upcoming 2 and 3 May. If you don’t have any tickets yet, they’re still available through the Groezrock festival website HERE.
